Members of Reach for Recovery Ekurhuleni recently attended the Geluksdal Support Group high tea, fashion show and some entertainment at the local Cahtolic Church Hall to create awareness about breast cancer. Members of the support group who attended a training course to help people diagnosed with cancer in the area received their certificates at this beautiful event. The event also celebrated those who have survived the ordeal of being diagnosed and treated for this kind of cancer. The event was also attended by Nicky Joseph, current Miss Gauteng/Queen of Africa.

Co-founder of Reach for Recovery Ekurhuleni, Josey Nonkonyana, shared that about two months ago, they started assisting this support group to get back on its feet. Also after seeing a need in the area, they opted to school some of the members of the group, so they can be able to provide counselling and education to breast cancer patients. She explained the practical and emotional support service that our volunteers provide to breast cancer patients. The new trainees are also encouraged to visit breast cancer survivors and encourage them to join a support group.
