Reach for Recovery KZN is gaining momentum, and are certainly ‘on the move’. Our goal and focus this year is to reach into outlying / rural areas where there is often zero breast cancer awareness, education or information. We recently held a training course in Durban, and had trainees from Ladysmith, Mtubatuba, Richards Bay, Empangeni, & Kwandengezi.
We have just returned from an amazing 3 days in Ladysmith, where we launched RFR Ladysmith at the annual Ladysmith Show. Hundreds of pamphlets were distributed, and we had a fantastic response and warm welcome from the community. From the interaction we had with the community, a breast cancer support group is very much needed and welcomed. We will be returning soon to run another training course in the Ladysmith area.
Our Zululand group (Richards Bay, Empangeni & Mtubatuba), is getting established and they also have received such positive response and support. We will also be travelling to the area to train new volunteers later in the year.
RFR Kwandengezi will be launched on Mandela Day (18 July).
There will be numerous awareness events and talks in KZN during October. Our Durban Awareness event will be held on Saturday 6th October, at the Jewish Club. Last year over 500 people attended our event in Durban. The support we have from our local Durban Community is awesome and our faithful friends and supporters look out for this annual event. We are so thankful!! This year will be completely different. This is going to be a Classy “High Tea”
