It wouldn’t be a month of Women Making History if we didn’t highlight some of our own and another wonderful woman in our #Reach4Recovery fold is, Stephné Jacobs.
With change taking place in South Africa on many levels, it became clear that Reach for Recovery needed a new look and feel. Enter Stephné Jacobs, yet another gifted woman, breast cancer survivor and passionate about Reach for Recovery.
She was elected as National Coordinator in 2012. She immediately took up the challenge of transforming the organisation. A Strategic Planning session in January 2013 paved the way for a new brand with on-trend logo and website which was launched in October 2014 – with Stephné as the Chairperson of the newly established Board of Management.
The organisational structure was streamlined to reflect a professional business image. Under her watch the first Reach to Recovery International Conference was hosted in Cape Town in May 2013. The conference included a Volunteer “Bash”. It provided a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for volunteers from all over South Africa to get together. BUT it was not a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as 139 volunteers descended upon Mossel Bay to celebrate Reach for Recovery’s 50th birthday.
Again Stephné implemented the first Volunteer Awards Ceremony in the organization. Under Stephné’s leadership and guidance, we believe that Reach for Recovery is destined to reach new heights in the years to come.#WomenMakingHistory
